HOLY HOLY HOLY
Written by Reginald Heber
In 1783, Reginald Heber was born into a prosperous and well-educated family.
He was a talented young man who, at the age of seven, translated a Latin classic into English rhyme.
At the age of 17, he entered Oxford, where he won two awards for his poetry. After receiving his degree, he was appointed rector of his father's church in the west English village of Hodnet, close to Shrewsbury, where he served for 16 years.
After being named Bishop of Calcutta in 1823, he toiled nonstop for three years before the adverse conditions and travel forced him to succumb to a stroke.
His 57 songs, including "Holy, Holy, Holy," are still often sung today.
The song was performed by Audrey Assad
